Today, I want to tell you a secret: Perfect friendships are a myth!
So many of you might look at your friendships and get upset about them, because they don't seem to be as perfect as other people's friendships look like on social media. They see each other all the time, they do fun things together, go out and have the best time ever. Or you might think that the people on social media have more and deeper friendships, they're able to speak to their friends about everything whereas you and your friends don't share those details with each other.
But let me tell you something, perfect friendships don't exist. Every friendship has issues, worries or things that could be improved. Why? Because a friendship is a connection between two people, and people always have things they worry about or are unhappy with - that's how we are.
The next time you see a friendship that seems 'perfect', just remind yourself that they also have their packages to carry and things they need to work on, either individually or as a pair of friends.
And the real deal isn't really a 'perfect friendship' anyway, it is a friendship that is willing and able to work on issues and problems together. Having a friend who is willing to work on themselves and improve the friendship is so invaluable! Not just because it means that the person is open for critic and is trying to have the best friendship possible, but also because this person is willing to bring your friendship up to the next level!
Who wants a friendship that stays the same at all times? No one. A friendship needs to develop and grow as much as the individuals do as well. So find yourself a friend who is willing to work on themselves and your friendship, someone who might not be perfect but is willing to work on getting as close to perfect as possible.
That's the real deal my friend!
Perfect friendships or not, what matters is that you have friendships in your life. Friends play an incredibly important role in our life, more important than most of us even know. Without friends, especially as someone who is living abroad, you can feel isolated and lonely.
